Gets a Flux Capacitor

Finally got around to mounting and hooking up the Flux Capacitor.  With the help of the GI Buddy by Dk Pinball.

This version of the Flux Capacitor is the usb charger from  I first removed the cigarette adpater from the back which basically is just nutted on and clipped the 2 12v leads.  These leads were then ran up to the power board where I also installed the Data East Power Tap also from DK Pinball.

Now since the Flux has to be powered on each time I solder those leads closed and ran leads from the pop bumper below the ramp to the GI buddy. This way the Flux Capacitor only lights and activates with the pop bumpers and pretty pleased with the results.

My New Buddy

Just a quick follow up on a previous post regarding the light mod I did with the blue el tape from Californeon. Light Mod #2  I stumbled across something interesting from DK Custom Pinball that I really wanted to try out.

A BIG THANKS to Mike over at DK custom pinball for putting together a couple of these GI buddies and overnighting them out to me to have in time for the Northwest Pinball Show unveiling this weekend.

Purpose:  basically what I wanted was to only have the blue Eltape light when the lower playfield was active.  Seemed silly to just run power to it and have that light all the time.  So I tapped into one of the lower GIs that only come on when the lower playfield actives the GI Buddy takes that ac current and turns it basically into an on & off switch which then turns on the 5vdc needed to run the light mod.

These things worked great installed in a few minutes  and did exactly what I needed it to do! I do wish it had a small hole in the center for mounting though. hint …hint.

Backbox and Backglass lighting

Had to make a few mods to the lighting in the backbox since the new art require a few lamps to be relocated.    Now with all bulbs working for the first time I just need to repaint the wood and possibly change out the scores displays

I did add and added a couple of LED color changes to backlight the infinity symbol and changed out the counter with a new green Xpin LED 6 digit score display.

Teaser Promo #1

With the first show coming up soon.  I thought it was time to put together a quick fun promo for this custom pin I’ll be unveiling at the 2015 Northwest Pinball and Arcade Show  June 5th-7th

Missing Plastic Dilema

OK  heres a little something came up that was unexpected.  While Google searchin for something completely unrelated I found this image on Pinside. Nothing too special just some broken plastics for Elektra.

MissingPartExpect one of them caught my eye, since I didn’t draw or have this one cut yet.  I went through all my original pictures I took of the machine before my tear down and yep never had it so I didn’t know it was missing. ugh sigh.

So Im making one.  Vectored up the shape and scale it to measuring the distance of the mounting screws and viola. new plastic ready to be  laser cut!

Light Mod #2

A very cool light mod thats looking very promising.  I picked up some 3/8″ blue El Tape for the inside head/lower playfield trim to play around with from Californeon

IMG_8300Was a little difficult to find the right width for this but so far Im really diggin it.  Plan is to wire this into the lower plafields power so when the head lights for lower play so will the el-tape.  This would probably make for a good Elektra mod as well and replace that useless rotting black foam.
